Finally, a clear shot of Saturn
There is a common theory amongst amateur astronomers that the moment you buy new equipment you are damming yourself to at least 2-3 months of rain and clouds. So, I"m sorry to say Newcastle but you could possibly blame our weather of late on my christmas present. Never-the- less, tonight the clouds parted giving a fantastically clear night which allowed me to get my first look at Saturn. The rings were clearly visible as well as 2 orbiting moons. Well worth braving the night chill for. Thats Mars and Saturn down, only six more to go (yes, I do count Pluto, I'm old you see).
